Written Language
The funny thing about “writing” is that from beginning to end (Enos to Moroni), the Lamanites focused on destroying the Nephite records. With one short exception, the Lamanites were not literate. The people of Zarahemla did not have a written language, either, until the Nephites joined them. The only records that survived were the ones Mormon kept in the repository that Oliver described. We should be looking for a society that did not keep records.
The big fallacy of M2C here is two-fold. First, they have a Mayan society that kept records everywhere, including on their buildings. That’s the opposite of what the Book of Mormon describes. Second, the written language in Mesoamerica is Mayan, not Hebrew or Egyptian. And the experts say Mayan originated in Central America. It didn’t come from the old world, and certainly not from the Middle East.
